We had guests from out of town and they wanted to go to Good Harbor Beach so off we went. My sister, her hubby and his local nephew piled into the car with me behind the wheel and after the beach we set off in search of vittles. We drove by this place and one of our party yelled out "diner!" while another screamed "roast beef!" so I parked right across the street (meter) and in we went.
As none of us had been there before it took quite a while for us to read over the menu posted behind the counter. The woman working the counter was patient and very helpful in answering all our questions. We finally got our act together, ordered and grabbed a table.
The place is small but very tidy and efficiently laid out. The ladies' restroom was spartan but spotless which is always nice. We waited about 15 minutes for our lunch and it was well worth the wait.
I had the steak/cheese sub which was large and absolutely jam packed with piping hot, gooey goodness. The roll was soft and fresh and the meat and veggies were perfectly cooked. It took forever to eat this thing, it seemed to stay the same size with every bite. Two of my companions had roast beef in different forms and they both loved it; one commented that even though he was stuffed he wished he'd ordered a larger one because it was so good. Diner #4 had a burger that was cooked to order and devoured quickly. We shared a massive order of fries that looked barely touched by the time we were all full.
I hope we can find this place again next time we're in Gloucester - would not hesitate to stop for lunch while sightseeing with visitors. -

They should just pack up and go home!!! Have you ever left a restaurant and spent the rest of your afternoon thinking about how terrible it was? This is that kind of place. Don't waste your time and money.
To explain into detail I ordered a chef salad and a scallop box.
Chef salad: 9$, light on lettuce, deli meats were sliced but half way so had large slices of meat that resembled a paper cut snow flake, had one slice of cucumber that was cut in half so I could enjoy 2 bites of cucumber, 3 cherry tomatoes, peppers and onions where fine.
Scallop box: 15$ the scallops came out so soggy that they were sitting in a puddle on the tinfoil it came out on.
Tried to dip them in the tarter sauce to just force eat a few but the breading that was just wet brown mush that was grasping for dear life on the scallop that's texture was like wet toilet paper. Luckily my fries came out late so I could eat a few to hold me over till the next time I eat
Service: could be a lot better definitely not a warm welcome when you come in, received a quick hello and when employee noticed we needed a second quickly went back to watching tv. After placing our order the chef made sure to finish what ever text conversation he had going on his phone. We had a seat at the first table and the table had ice cream drips on it we looked further to see if there was a better table and we stuck with the ice cream table as we waited for the food I was trying to figure out why we where watching tv instead of cleaning these sticky dirty tables but when the food came out it all made sense these employees don't give a damn. -

After trying Nick's today and having sampled numerous others, decided to try here. I believe the two grumpy employees assumed I was a novice out-of-towner.
I ordered to go, and when I arrived at my hotel, the large roast beef sandwich was WELL DONE. Dark brown and dry beef.
Dry...I thought people were just being religious about some of the other places...This was like...eh...didn't finish even half. I was played. Maybe trying to get ride of beef locals wouldn't stand for? I dont know...
I'm from out of town and we dont have roast beef sandwiches like you get in Beverly, etc...
This place must just be hanging on...I should have known when I compared how busy it was. Read Yelp and listen to the reviews...i should have. -

They used to be the best kebab salad in town but recently have raised prices and scaled back on the portions. Not worth the money anymore....

Good food and a lot of variety on the menu. Fast. Generous portions. Good prices. One of my favorite take out places.
